Hamranes School is a new 8,800 m² integrated school in Hafnarfjörður for children from 12 months to 16 years of age. The school will serve as a central hub for the neighbourhood. In addition to conventional teaching facilities, the school will include a library, youth centre, after-school facilities, spaces for music education, a sports hall, dining hall and kitchen, staff facilities, and dedicated teaching rooms for subjects such as art, science and crafts.

The school is being delivered as a design-build project, with ÍSTAK as the main contractor and Yrki Architects as lead designers. The structural system consists primarily of precast concrete elements. Walls and beams are precast, while the floor and roof structures comprise a combination of filigree slabs and hollow-core slabs.
